    This new bridge over I-85 in northern Charlotte, NC will provide east-west connectivity between the University Research Park, Belgate/IKEA developments, and the CATS Blue Line Extension on North Tryon Street. ESP’s services included construction materials testing and CEI services for the improvement structures.

    ESP was responsible for the design and preparation of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilities Department water and sanitary sewer relocation construction plans and specifications for the construction and relocation of Rea Road from Pineville-Matthews Road  to Rea Croft Drive. ESP also provided geotechnical engineering and testing during construction.

    From planning through construction, ESP provided ROW, design surveys, SUE, and construction and as-built surveyors for a 2.6 mile corridor to support the widening of Back Creek Church Road from NC49 to Rocky River Road.

    Pennies for Progress is the name of the York County Capital Projects Sales and Use Tax Programs. Every project in this program includes project coordination, aerial surveys, GPS ground control, conventional surveys, SUE, survey, and base mapping. ESP has supported more than 25 projects under this contract.

    Municipal Roadway Surveys

    ESP completed mobile LiDAR surveys for a Florida City in support of field data collection and topographic mapping for 17 miles of local right-of-way. This technology allowed the City to cost-effectively collect complete CAD and GIS data for various City department needs.

    Haul Roads Inventory & PCI

    As a subcontractor, ESP inventoried 438 miles of paved haul roads for a inter-state pipeline project using our mobile LiDAR and pavement camera system. For pre-construction conditions, 10% of each road was sampled for condition analysis and Pavement Condition Index (PCI) scoring in accordance with the ASTM D6433 standard.

    Parkwood Avenue Streetscape

    Improvements included adding a median/refuge, bike lanes, and sidewalks to a total of 3,630 linear feet of Parkwood Avenue. ESP performed a geotechnical exploration of the existing pavement structure and soil subgrade, and provided subgrade improvement/remediation and pavement design recommendations.

    SUE and Surveying for Roadways

    ESP provides on-call survey and subsurface utility location services for various cities, counties and other local governmental entities to support CIP projects.

When assisting municipalities with street and roadway projects, ESP understands that budgets and client staffing resources are often limited. As a result, we offer a valued solution of numerous technical experts and technologically advanced capabilities with a local presence. We coordinate our design support services internally such that a single point of contact can convey a variety of information to our client, allowing for efficiency and time savings.

During construction, our services will include surveying, SUE and testing/inspection, but can also include other helpful tasks such as support in construction administration, quality assurance, utility coordination, and construction management.
