ESP Associates, Inc., is currently searching for a Prestress Concrete Plant Inspector to travel to plants throughout North and South Carolina. This role requires extensive travel to sites throughout North and South Carolina.   A company vehicle will be provided for travel, travel costs, including per diem, is paid. Travel can include assignments that will require several days away from home during the work week.

 

Responsibilities

  • The Inspector will perform independent technical work associated with the quality assurance inspection of prestressed products to include, but not limited to, concrete bridge beams and/or concrete decks.
  • Assignments require independent review of the complete fabrication process. 
  • The Inspector is responsible for reviewing and monitoring fabrication; reviewing/performing concrete tests; and interpreting specifications and approved drawings. 

Qualifications: 

  • Experience with Structure Inspections 
  • Ability to use I-Pad and a laptop computer
  • PCI Certification (Level I, II or III) issued by Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute is preferred 
  • NCDOT/ACI Certification required (active or expired)
  • Prior experience in NCDOT highway and bridge construction inspection preferred
  • Must be able to travel extensively
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Knowledge of the principles and methods applied in inspecting the fabrication of prestressed concrete bridge beams, precast concrete, concrete pipe and grate and frame
  • Knowledge of concrete materials and their use in transportation construction
  • Knowledge of the characteristics and properties of natural and manufactured materials used in precast and prestressed concrete construction
  • Ability to interpret shop drawings, standards and specifications and to enforce these requirements
  • Skill in performing sampling and testing of concrete and constituent materials, including Self Consolidating Concrete
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Candidate must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company’s driving (MVR) policy
