ESP Associates, Inc. has an opportunity for a Geotechnical Project Engineer / Project Manager to join our team.  Position will be focused primarily on the transportation market.  With employees and offices spread throughout the Southeast (and beyond), this role has flexibility to work from several ESP locations, including South Charlotte (Fort Mill – ESP’s corporate HQ), Greensboro, NC, Charleston, SC, and Raleigh, NC.   • Subsurface investigations
  • Laboratory testing
  • Seismic analyses
  • Embankment settlement and stability analyses
  • Reinforced earth structure analyses and design
  • Foundation analyses and design
  • Ground improvement analyses and design
  • Report preparation
  • Foundation load testing
  • Construction engineering and inspection
  • Noise and vibration monitoring

 Responsibilities:

  • The candidate will be involved in all phases of a project including business development, proposal preparation, managing and/or performing field engineering, engineering analysis, report writing, consultation, invoice preparation, client contact and correspondence. 
  • Plan and execute field exploration and laboratory testing programs
  • Perform engineering analyses, geotechnical design, write technical reports
  • Technical analysis and reporting
  • Providing oversight of field staff
  • Providing consultation/evaluation for field-related concerns
  • Client interaction and performing project management duties

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Master’s Degree with a focus in Geotechnical Engineering preferred
  • EIT required, PE strongly preferred
  • 10+ years of relevant experience on transportation projects
  • Experience with NCDOT and/or SCDOT preferred
  • Displays strong technical skills in soil mechanics and geotechnical analyses and design 
  • Display experience with soft ground and high seismic geology
  • Must possess intermediate to advanced computer skills (MS Office and relevant technical software required, gINT and MicroStation are preferred), including the ability to learn various types of company/client software 
  • Candidate must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company’s driving (MVR) policy
