The $450-million Monroe Expressway improves mobility and capacity within the project area by allowing for high-speed regional travel while also maintaining access to retail, commercial, and employment centers along the US 74 corridor.
This NCDOT project extends nearly 20 miles from US 74 near I-485 in Mecklenburg County to US 74 between the towns of Wingate and Marshville in Union County and will use electronic tolling similar to the Triangle Expressway.
